Abstract

Flowable thermosetting moulding compsns. consists, by wt of (A) 25-50% condensn. resin pref. 30-40% phenol/HCHO resin, (B) 15-35% wollastonite as inorganic filler, (C) 30-60% 5-26mm-long glass fibres and (D) standard additives and auxiliaries, e.g. further filler, thixotropic agents, etc. The compsns. are used for lining and producing apparatuses contg. corrosive materials >100 degrees C. The compsns. contain no asbestos. Hardened compsns. can be tested electrically. Doubling with a filler-free layer is unnecessary. Mechanical strength is improved, e.g. on replacing a graphite/asbestos/phenoplast control compsn. by a glas fibre/wollastonite/phenoplast compsns., flexural strength increases from 56 to 80 N/mm2 longitudinally and from 54- to 75 N mm2 longitudinally and from 1.62- to 2.8 KJ/m2 cross-sectionally.
