Abstract

Chains used with cranes are made with oval links with the plane of one link at right angles to the planes of adjoining links. A block of metal (3) is fitted between the inner surfaces of the sides of each link (1a, 1b). The block (3) has ribs extending from the corners, the ribs being deformed after insertion of the block so that they grip the surface of the link.
