Abstract
The dimmer circuit gradually reduces the intensity of a light to zero over a given period of time after the light has been switched on. The circuit contains a PTC resistor (30) and an NTC resistor (17) both connected at one end to the secondary (32) of a transformer whose primary (31) is in series with the main switch (6). A triac (14) controls the current to the light. The gradual reduction in the NTC resistor temp., i.e. its increase in resistance after switch-on progressively retards the turn-on point of the tiac using a capacitor (23).
