Compsn. comprises hemiacetals of methyleneglycol, dioxymethylene glycol, trioxymethylene glycol, tetraoxymethylene glycol, pentaoxymethylene glycol and hexaoxymethylene glycol in ratio 4.5+10%; 3.3+10%:2.8+10%:2.1+10%: 1.45+10%:1+10%. An alternative compsn. comprises the above components plus heptaoxymethylene glycol, octaoxymethylene glycol, nonaoxymethyleneglycol and decaoxymethyleneglycol hemiacetals, in ratio 26.8+10%:19.7+10%: 16.5+10%:12.3+10%:8.6+10%:5.9%+10%:3.8+10%:2.5+10%: 3.5+10%:0.4+10%. The compsns. have antitumour, fungistatic and bacteriostatic activities, and are prepd. by reaction of HCHO or paraformaldehyde, water, butanol and glycerol or other alcohols.
