Abstract
The balloon provides an airborne distress signal and comprises an envelope (1) made from a strong material in the form of a kite. This has a rounded top (11) and tapers to a lower point (12), a ring attachment (2, 3) being fitted top and bottom. Two easily visible colours are used for the two sections, these providing a method of varying the signal message. The balloon is inflated by gas and attached (4) to a line (6) by the top or bottom ring to fly vertical. Equally, it can be attached (4, 5) to both rings to fly horizontally.
