Abstract

A centrifuge bowl incorporates a central structure, a fixed axis and a wall. The central structure is formed of rotatory bearings place one above another and spaced at suitable distances integrated to form a rigid whole by a tubular bolting system or by being fixed on a driving sleeve. The bearings constitute a common body with the base of the bowl; segments of circles assembled to form circles, which have girdles at their outer edges may by winding a woven band; collectors and pipes for extraction of sepd. products; the cover of the bowl. All these elements are formed, wound or moulded from fibres or woven composites and are previously coated with an epoxy glue to make them rigid and so that they cannt be put out of shape. The structure is balanced to avoid vibration. The fixed axis can take many different shapes and acts as a seating for the bearings. It is hollow and has openings for extraction of sepd. products and for charging mixtures for sepn. The wall of the bowl is a tube formed by mechanical or heat treatment from an envelope woven of fibres, previously coated with several layers. The method of fabrication of the bowl allows very high peripheral speeds to be attained by making use of the resistance to tension of fibres and composites formed into components which are then subjected to thermal and mechanical treatments and coated with epoxy glue. The treatments impart a permanent deformation superior to that obtd. in existing practise and allow rigid bowls to be obtd.
