Abstract

Annular pneumatic chambers made by joining rubber (latex) tubing end to end in overlapped or sleeved butt joints are fitted with an inflation valve so that the foot of the valve passes through the joint and complements the mechanical engagement and/or the sealing of the joint. Claimed for tubes having an internal coating of polyisobutylene latex to ensure impermeability esp. where one end of the tube is folded internally to receive the opposite end of the tube so that the external layers can be bonded directly together.
