Abstract
In addition to gold-based soluble compounds, the electrolytic deposition bath contains boron and/or certain organic acids containing one or more COOH groups or alternative forms of this group in which the oxygen is replaced by NH and the hydroxyl by NH2, or else organic products containing one or more SO3H groups. In the case of one or more COOH groups, the latter is (are) bonded to a hydrogen atom or to one or more, substituted or unsubstituted, aliphatic or aromatic, alkyl or aryl radicals, while the SO3H group or groups are bonded to one or more, substituted or unsubstituted, aliphatic or aromatic radicals. The use of this bath results in an increase of the current efficiency of the order of 20 to 30 % when compared with the known solutions. The deposits obtained are bright when the solutions employed have a pH between 4 and 5.5.
