L'invention concerne l'industrie chimique. Elle couvre un procédé de fabrication des trihalogénures de monohydrocarbylétain, RSnX3 , par une réaction de redistribution entre un derivé de tétrahydrocarbylétain, R4 Sn, un halogénure de trihydrocarbylétain, R3 SnX, ou un dihalogénure de dihydrocarbylétain, R 2 SnX2 et un tétrahalogénure d'étain, SnX4 , en présence de sels de sulfonium ou d'isothiuronium comme catalyseurs. Application du produit de l'invention comme produit intermédiaire dans la préparation d'agents de stabilisation de résines halogénées.
