Abstract

In a train safety system, a vehicle is to recognise automatically whether the location codes transmitted to it from the route are appropriate or whether they are incorrect transmissions. For this purpose, kilometre stationing codes are transmitted to the vehicle by means of fixed transmission devices which are arranged at intervals, and, upon receiving each new code, the vehicle tests whether its actual position coincides with a reference position calculated by it in advance. The reference position is produced from the position information, stored in a memory (4), of the transmission device which has been passed previously and from the distance which has been covered since this transmission device was passed and has been measured by a position sensor (5, 6). Both variables are summed in an interpolation unit (7) as a function of the travel direction. The sum value which is formed is subject to measuring errors of the position sensor device. In a multiplier unit (9), the possible travel deviation is determined and combined, by means of an adding element (8) with the sum value formed. In order to acknowledge new destination information, it is determined in a test (10) whether the new destination information lies within the route position indicated by the adding element (8). In order to indicate stationing increments, further codes, in addition to the location codes, are transmitted to the vehicle.
