Abstract

The rain gauge for measurement and recording of high level precipitation comprises funnel and recipient into which precipitation falls where its pressure determines measuring interval. Rapid draining of recipient is automatically initiated. Rain enters funnel with tube to recipient with diameter permitting measurement of maximum precipitation. Pressure sensor provides signal proportional to column height. Signal is evaluated to determine precipitation intensity. An electrovalve is controlled from evaluation circuit depending on column height to drain recipient contents. A detection circuit prevents printing of measurements when there is low precipitation.
