Abstract
Low voltage electrical conductors are checked for faults in the insulating material at the end of the production line. Faults may be too little or no insulation at certain points. The hv from a generator with high internal resistance is applied between central conductor and an external electrode. A detector electrode comprises a short tube which passes over the conductor. Signals indicating fault conditions occur as LV signals which are divided down and passed by a matching circuit prior to application to an adjustable discriminator. A wave shaping monostable creates an alarm signal.
