Abstract

The ladder has flat treads made from extruded aluminium sections. These are fixed to the uprights (1) and maintained at the correct angle by means of shaped blocks fitting into the ends of each section and held by self tapping screws. The treads (7) have a ribbed upper surface (8), their long sides being turned downwards to form flanges. The blocks have a main body (4) shaped the full width of the tread and two forwards projecting wings (56). These are inserted inside the flanges, butting against the block. Each screw (14) cuts its thread into a split tubular section forming part of the tread ends.
