Abstract

Solar energy collector with water circulation incorporates a peripheral frame which has the same section on all four sides. This section includes parallel grooves in which are engaged, with interposition of a thermally insulating and fluid-tight joint, the edges of a glass plate, a metal surface for absorbing radiation and a protective shell. The components fixing the collector on its support are housed in a groove in the section, independent of those which accept the edges of the constituents of the collector. Problems associated with losses of heat through thermal bridges between the internal hot parts of the absorber and the ambient atmos. and the collector support are avoided in a simple and economical way. Joints are needed only between the edges of the elements of the collector and the grooves in the section. A U-section joint can be used e.g. for the edge of the metal absorbant.
