Abstract

A carboy for storing acid or alcohol has a screwed stopper with a sealing ring fitting into an undercut groove. The sealing ring is made of a relatively rigid plastic such as low density polyethylene which is unaffected by contact with the contents of the carboy. The cross-section of the sealing ring is mainly circular with a projecting arm having three small ribs on its outer surface. This shape increases the elasticity of the sealing ring so that a perfect seal is maintained even after prolonged use.
