Abstract

A bi-stable snap action circuit breaker is esp. for use with motor vehicle accessories where the load current demand can be intermittent or continuously high for considerable periods e.g. windscreen wipers. The snap action is based on the use of two sprung elements which are not cut-away so forming hot spots which may cause deterioration of the remaining switch components. The spring (29) is approximately 'E' shaped. The two outer legs (40) are turned over (41) to form pivot points. The central leg (38) provides the snap action, the spine of the 'E' carrying the contact electrode.
