Abstract

The demountable door-hinge has two pieces (1, 2), e.g. a cylindrical base (1) with an axially projecting hinge-pin (3) and a sleeve (2), and a round section dowel (4, 5) projects radially from each piece. The dowels are force-fitted into blind drilled holes (6, 8) in the edge of the door and have a circumferential groove in their end-zones. The grooves are engaged by demountable fasteners (16, 18) located in second holes (10, 11) opening out on a major face of the door. The groove may be of a 'V' section engaged by a connosed screw (16, 17) in a cylindrical block (14). The block locates in the second hole (10), has a diametric hole (14a) traverse by the dowel (6), and has an axial hole traversed by the screw (16). Alternatively the groove may be of a square section and be engaged by a winged hour-glass profile clip (18) of spring steel. The clip traverses an axial slot (19) in the block (15).
