Abstract

Screen printing ink is printed by means of a printing screen, corresponding to a predetermined pattern, onto the plastic or rubber surface of a sheet. Before the imprint is dried, glass beads are applied to the printed sheet surface and fixed by pressing them into the pattern-printed regions of the sheet surface which have been partially dissolved by the screen printing ink. After drying of the screen printing ink is complete, the unfixed glass beads are sucked off the printed sheet surface. The process is concluded by transparent overcoating of the printed surface regions, containing incorporated glass beads, of the sheets with the aid of the printing screen already used for printing the screen printing ink. Sheets printed in this manner can be further processed to form articles of reflecting safety clothing, including boots.
