Abstract

The ignition coil is designed for use in IC engines. The coil design removes the need for interwinding insulation and provides a high level output. Both primary and secondary windings are set on a closed loop magnetic core (1) the first (3) being on a former on one side, the secondary (5) being split into several spaced sections and wound on the adjacent limb of the core. The splitting of the secondary windings and their short winding space ensures that the difference in potential between the two windings is sufficiently low to remove the need for an insulating layer.
