Abstract

Blocks are produced from bituminous masses in a hot liquid state by cooling the 2-10 mm thick film in water or air and by depositing the solidified dry film in a heap on a conveyor belt. This takes it to the funnel of an extrusion press which produces an endless strand. A cutter blade cut this up to the desired dimension. This is a compact plant which forms the bitumen to a large cooling surface in a minimum of space. The size of the blocks can be easily varied and the system is suitable for all bitumen grades which are not deliquescent at room temp.
