Abstract

The female connector, for circuit boards etc. has a make contact pin (3) at one end (for fixing the connector or connecting with another similar connector or for soldering wires) and a female socket at the other end. The female socket consists of tapering spring fingers that grip an inserted contact pin. A rigid steel tube (13) fits over the spring fingers to limit their radial deflection. The tube rests at one end against lips (9) at the ends of the fingers and has a shoulder (15) at the other innermost end to engage a recess in the shank of the female part. The outer surface of the tube's inner end is knurled (14).
