Abstract

L'invention a trait à la fabrication d'électrodes au carbone à partir d'une matière pâteuse qui est compactée par vibrations dans un moule solidaire d'une table vibrante et fermé par un couvercle qui est libre de se mouvoir verticalement par rapport au moule. Le procédé objet de l'invention est caractérisé en ce que, pendant le compactage, le couvercle rebondit de manière régulière sur la matiere contenue dans le moule à une fréquence qui est fraction de la fréquence fondamentale des vibrations du moule. Pour la mise en oeuvre de ce procédé, on utilise un dispositif qui détermine automatiquement le régime de fonctionnement optimal et qui règle en conséquence la vitesse de rotation des arbres à balourd de la table vibrante L'invention est utilisable pour la fabrication d'électrodes au carbone notamment pour la production d'aluminium par électrolyse.
