Abstract

The nozzle of a hot runner mould tool incorporates a conic core with a coaxial passage surrounding a static mandrel having a blunt tip adjacent to the mould gate. The ratio of the passage dia. to the mandrel dia., D/d, is 1.2-2, so that the mandrel temp. can be used to effectively control the melt temp. entering the mould without significantly inhibiting flow. Simpler than using reciprocating pins or plug flow runners for adjusting thermoplastic melt temps. to maintain flow through a pin hole gate without having drooling between shots.
