Guide d'onde optique à tige de verre ayant une âme et une gaine d'indices de réfraction différents. On entoure la périphérie 11 de cette tige d'un revêtement de verre métallique 12 appliqué sous forme d'un métal liquide qui se contracte lors de son refroidissement pour placer la surface de ladite tige sous compression en donnant lieu de ce fait à un renforcement de celle-ci. Application aux systèmes de télécommunication.
