L'invention concerne un procédé de préparation de zéolite à partir d'un minéral de type kandite, dépourvu d'agrégats et n'ayant pratiquement pas de fer superficiel associé et moins de 0,5 % en poids de fer interstitiel. Ce minéral est calciné entre 550 et 925 degrés C, puis chauffé entre 60 et 100 degrés C en présence d'une solution d'hydroxyde de sodium d'environ 5M, les proportions de minéral calciné et d'hydroxyde de sodium dans le mélange étant telles que le rapport molaire Na20/SiO2 est compris entre 0,5 et 1,5.
