Abstract

Optically active prostaglandin analogues of formula (I), their racemates, mirror images and, when R1 is OH, pharmaceutically acceptable salts, are new. In the formula, n is 3 or 4. R1 is OH or 1-6C alkoxy W is one of the gps. (II)- Q is e.g. -C(CH3)2R6, -CH2C(CH3)2R7 or -CHR6R8; R4 is H or CH3; R5 is 4-7C alkyl; R6 is 3-5C alkyl; R7 is 2-4C alkyl; R8 is 1-2C alkyl. (I) are useful as hypotensives, antiulcer agents, antisecretories, to protect against gastric damage by nonsteroid antiinflammatories, abortifacients, labour- or menstruation-inducers, contraceptives, regulators of oestrus (in animal breeding) and CNS regulators Generally compared with natural PG's they are more selective and/or have a more persistent effect.
