Abstract

A building (1) is provided at the highest point of the growing region and contains a stable. Waste from the stable drains to a tank (5) maintained at a suitable temperature for fermentation. The growing area is in bays along terraces down the hill. The bays are double glazed and contain slats between the glazing panes. The slats can be turned to allow or block radiation from the sun. Pipes between the glazing panes can be fed with heated water to melt snow on the glazing. Radiators (40) can be fed with hot water to maintain the temperature in the bays.
