Abstract
The control mechanism of a set of railway points comprises an over centre toggle mechanism. An operating lever (7) is shackled to pivot point (22) by a linkage (19), of a rotating L shaped arm (5). Rotation of arm (5) occurs about pivot (23). The distal end of arm (5) bears a pivot (3) to which a spring bias arm (4) is attached. Arm (4) pivots on point (38) which with pivot (23) defines the dead centre position line (11) of the mechanism. A linkage (2) connects pivot (3) to the mobile points elements. Stops (41) define the limits of the toggle displacement.
