Abstract

The safety helmet has an external rigid wall (3) and an internal supple wall (4) and between these there are supple cells (5) which contain a fluid (7). Each cell is hemispherical in shape and the base of each cell is in contact with the internal wall. The cells are independent but the edges of their bases touch and the top of the cells are in contact with the external wall. The cells can have a thinner part which will rupture under pressure or the cells can be joined at the base so that the liquid escapes into neighbouring cells under pressure.
