Abstract

A machine for the surface treatment of skins or hides has worktables hinged between two endless chains such that the tables remain within the plane of the chains in the straight sections of the track, but that their leading edges are radially removed from the plane in the curved sections. A clamping device holds a skin or hide straddling the table as it is pulled between two pairs of scudding or smoothing rollers. Each worktable carries an endless belt slung around two return drums. Used for processing of hides and skins for scudding or smoothing operations. The skins cannot slip on the table. As they move between the treatment rollers, their whole surface area is processed without risk of damaging it.
