Abstract

A valve is included in the enclosure for a bass frequency loudspeaker to provide air damping of the moving elements. The valve is adjustable to provide required damping efficiency. A cylindrical tube (1) passes through the wall (2) of loudspeaker enclosure. A flexible membrane (3) is mounted on a ring (4) by gluing or by clips (5) and ensures that a disc (6) is suspended against the exterior of the tube. Holes in the disc permit restricted entry of air to provide damping. Three point mountings (7, 9) with springs permit adjustment of pressure of the disc assembly against the tube.
