Abstract

Oxayohimbane carboxylic acid hydrazides of formula (I) and their salts are new (where R=H, or 1-6C straight or branched alkyl opt. OH-substd. (I) has good activity and low toxicity. A typical product is 16, 17-didehydro-10,11-dimethoxy-19 alpha-methyl-3 beta, 15 alpha, 20-alpha -oxayohimbane-16-carboxylic acid hydrazide, m.pt. 200 degrees C. In an example this was prepd. by treating the corresp. carboxylic acid methylester (34g) with hydrazine hydrate (34 ml) and 34 ml absolute ethanol. The yield of product was 26 g.
