Abstract

The lift truck has carriage (4) which can be raised and lowered along its mast, the lifting forks being replaced by an attachment having side plates (6) which are spaced to accommodate a cable drum between them. A bar (8) between the plates provide a stop which is engaged by the periphery of the drum (7). Levers (10) are pivoted on each of the plates (6), each liver including an arm (16) and an hydraulic jack is connected between plate and arm. The free ends of the levers are interconnected by a bar (11). Jacks (13) are closed to raise levers (10) and the truck is manoeuvred so the drum lies between plates (6). Jacks (13) are extended so levers (10) come to stops (12). On raising the carriage the drum is lifted between bars (8,11).
