Abstract

The pneumatic driving tool drives home headed nails from a continuous strip, in which the adjacent nails are joined by short bridge pieces at the head edges. A punch works in a shaped passage into which the nails are fed. The punch (5) has cutting edges on opposite sides in line with the nail head bridge pieces, and acting against the edges of the nail head in the passage (1a). There are two openings (2, 4) in the passage, one (2) forming the inlet from the feed mechanism (3, 14-18), while the other (4) acts as the ejection opening for the sheared-off bridge pieces and is opposite the first one. The edges of the openings support the bridge pieces of the nail in the passage, and act as mating blades for the cutting edges on the punch.
