Abstract

L'oeil est éclairé par un faisceau de lumière infra-rouge dont l'axe est colinéaire à l'axe optique d'une caméra de télévision, de façon que la réflexion de ce faisceau sur la rétine provoque l'apparition, sur la surface photosensible de la caméra, d'une image brillante de la pupille, de forme approximativement circulaire, tandis que la réflexion du même faisceau sur le dioptre cornéen provoque l'apparition, sur la surface photosensible de la caméra, d'une image encore plus brillante, sous la forme d'une tache de dimensions plus réduites que l'image de la pupille On analyse le signal vidéo délivré par la camera de manière à déterminer en permanence, d'une part, la position du centre de l'image de la pupille, d'autre part, la position du centre de l'image du reflet cornéen, par rapport au cadre de l'image télévisée, pour calculer, à partir de ces positions, deux composantes définissant la position de l'axe du regard. Application possible de l'invention dans les domaines suivants : ophtalmologie, psycho-physiologie, psychologie, ergonomie, guidage automatique d'engins.
