Abstract

Organic waste is prepd. prior to a biological treatment by mixing it with a carbon-contg. material (sawdust) in a press where it is dewatered and then de-aerated. The extruded mouldings have a diameter of 10-20mm and a max. length of 150mm. Forced ventilation in an aeration reactor then initiates spontaneous rotting processes.- Arrangement gives improved aeration so that less carbon cpd. need be added. The mouldings do not clot to each other or to the distribution.Capillary action ensures a spontaneous rotting process
