Abstract

Radiation emitted by and/or reflected from the material surface at high temp. esp. reflected radiation of illuminating flashes from esp. a stroboscope, is detected and photoelectrically converted. The device comprises a t.v. camera (45, 45') for detection of the radiated energy or radiation intensity, and/or the reflected energy or intensity of reflected radiation from the material surface (43). A shutter ir diaphragm is before the camera tube, so that a stationary image of moving material (43) can be obtained. A noise level control circuit is between the camera output and the input of a recognition circuit for recognition of faults, so that output signal fluctuations in the camera tube image plane are corrected.
