Abstract
An externally-vaned, heat transfer tube allows passage of a fluid to collect or disseminate heat via the vanes which extend into the atmos. or other medium with which heat transfer is required. Each pair of vanes extend in opposite directions radially from a central hub. The hub has a bore through which the tube can pass and the bore opens radially over about 110 degrees of the hub. Through the 110 degrees opening, radial pressure is applied to the tube to deform it slightly without stressing the vanes and hub beyond elastic limits. Without welding or adhesion, the vaned tubes are now efficient for transfer of heat in radiators, solar radiation collectors and industrial heat exchangers.
