Abstract

The corona ionisation chamber for air purification and conditioning has a high voltage generator (30) which charges an electrode (31) inside a metal housing (32) inside the main treatment chamber (34). A fan (41) located between the entry (39) of the housing and the electrode, forces air through the outlet (40) into the outer chamber (34). The air travels at a speed through the housing such that a substantial part of the ionised molecules are discharged through the outlet (30). In an alternative design, the electrode (42) can be a thin wire stretched between the opposite sides of the metal housing (45).
