Abstract

The balloon limiter device comprises a cylindrical element where the internal surface supports a series of spaced ridges parallel to each other, against which the yarn momentarily strikes during passing. The surface supporting the ridges is covered with a layer of material having a good coefficient of sound absorption, such as rubber of Shore Hardness 80 degrees to 90 degrees (Scale A). The ridges may also be formed of this material. Such a device provides a significant reduction in noise level, compared with devices disclosed in the parent patent.
