Abstract

Procédé pour l'oxydation de toluènes contenant un groupe non oxydable en position p. On procède par réaction avec de l'oxygène moléculaire en présence d'un carboxylate de cobalt, d'un composé du brome, d'un acide carboxylique et de 0,5 à 40 moles % par rapport à l'acide carboxylique, d'un agent s'opposant à l'oxydation. On prépare en particulier des p-alcoylbenzaldéhydes et des acides p-alcoylbenzoiques.A process for the oxidation of toluenes containing a non-oxidizable group in the p position. The procedure is carried out by reaction with molecular oxygen in the presence of a cobalt carboxylate, a bromine compound, a carboxylic acid and 0.5 to 40 mole% relative to the carboxylic acid, of an agent opposing oxidation. In particular p-alkylbenzaldehydes and p-alkylbenzoic acids are prepared.
