Abstract

A priority connexion is established in a multichannel saturated radioelectric network by arranging for a period of silence to occur sequentially on the channels. During this period a message of high priority can be transmitted. Speech is transmitted (10) by digitising (21) and storing in shift registers (22, 23) prior to modulation (29) and amplification (30). These signals are compressed while received (12) signals are decompressed in a system comprising demodulates (42) and shift registers (46, 47) prior to decoding (50, 52). A signal generator assembly (32) in the transmitter provides sync. signals and messages for transmission. High priority signals are transmitted during a silent multiplexed period when a signal to free a channel is also sent.
