Abstract

The connections for joining railway lines together electrically are for electric traction earth return and similar purposes. There are two identical angle plates (1, 2) of good electrical conducting type, such as copper. The lower branches have a cylindrical head with recesses in them. Into these recesses go the ends of a multi stranded cable (3) or strip of copper, preferably bent into a U shape. The vertical parts of the angle plate are applied to the fish plate (4) and welded on. The cable is welded into the angle plate by an method giving all round electrical contact. The angle plates are friction (or otherwise) welded to the fish plate (or to the rail).
