Abstract

The circuit breaker has a tripping element and a swivelling toggle for automatic or manual actuation of a contact driving toggle lever mechanism. On manual operation a rotary handle transmits its torque to the toggle, while the toggle swivel is transmitted to the handle at automatic operation. The actuating mechanism (14) transmits forcibly the handle (16) rotation during a first phase from the closing to the breaking position. During a second phase of the handle rotation beyond the breaking position into a locking position, the coupling between the handle and toggle is interrupted, in order to enable the handle rotation towards the locking position when the toggle is in the breaking position. If the contacts should be stuck by arcing the rotation into the locking position is prevented.
