Abstract

The installation is used for cleaning the external surfaces of boiler tubes, in order to remove soot and other deposits. It comprises a box in two parts, clamped around a tube and supported on guide wheels. This box contains nozzles, forming a complete ring round the tube and supplied with water under pressure to provide cleaning jets. These dislodge the deposits and the waste is removed through a hose in the bottom of the box. The complete installation is moved over the tubes by a cable passing over suitably placed pulleys and is operated by a man pulling the cable.
