Abstract
The lens and the eyepiece system each contain at least one refracting element. The system transmits both in daytime and in nighttime operation a beam containing an image of the observed object. A mechanism for switching over between daytime and nighttime operation contains an optical system which directs the beam past the image intensifier in daytime operation through an auxiliary lens system. This lens system produces an image virtually in the same plane as that of the image of the nighttime intensifier, but displaced sideways in relation to it.
