Abstract

There is disclosed a goggle design suitable for night viewing or low ambient light viewing and which allows both eyes to view a single transformed image source which may, for example, be an infrared image transformed to a visible wavelength image output from an image intensifier tube 24. The single image source output is split by means such as a beam splitter 30 and a mirror 31. Each offsplit image is seen by one eye through its own holographic lens 21a,b or equivalent optical element which may be mounted on a viewing plate positioned in the user's normal line of sight. The user is thus able to see not only the transformed image but also that image superimposed upon the natural scene image viewed with available ambient light. <IMAGE>
