Abstract
Wine is transferred from the vat to a bottle by means of a siphon formed by a rigid tube and a flexible tube. A second flexible pipe is connected to a hole in the bung and to a valve which fits in the neck of the bottle. When air is supplied through an inlet pipe, a non-return valve in the second pipe is closed, and wind is forced through the pipe into the bottle through the valve and into the pipe until it reaches the level of the wind in the vat. The valve is then closed and removed from the bottle.
