Abstract

The rotational speed of the electrostatic spray head is measured by a turbine fan mounted on a shaft. An extension to this shaft has a head in the form of a flat disc. This has a slot (35) in its periphery, angled into the direction of rotation and located opposite the orifice of an air jet (36). This jet impinges onto the periphery of the disc and its flow pattern is interrupted each time the slot passes in front. The perturbations are used to produce signals (38) which give a measurement of the disc's rotational speed. If necessary, reduction gearing can be introduced.
