Abstract

The pressure vessel is used for energy storage or as a shock absorber element. The vessel consists of a rigid casing (10) in which a diaphragm (13) is fitted, dividing the space of the casing into a gas-filled space (11) and a fluid-filled space (12). By a spigot assembly (15) the vessel is connected to the hydraulic system. The shaft of the valve has a bore in which a thrust pin (26) is slidingly fitted. The hollow shaft has several lateral bores accommodating blocking balls (30). The balls rest partly in in indentations in the inner wall surface of a guide element (17). When after a compression phase the fluid in the space (12) starts to drain back into the system through a channel (16), the diaphragm begins to expand under the pressure of gas in the space (11) until at one stage it pushes the pin (26) into the hollow shaft.
